3 weeks

In three weeks from today (in a purely technical sense, as I think given the time change it'll be three weeks and a day in that sense) I'll be in Korea. This is really kind of sneaking up on me. And given the way things change in an instant, I'm not just packing up what I'm taking with me like I thought. See, one of my roommates is in the process of a divorce, and given custody and whatnot, is probably going to be moving into the space that DB and I now occupy once I leave. Luckily, given that I have lived here since I first returned from Korea 2.5 years ago, I only really have what I brought back from Korea and what I've accumulated since then. With the exception of the computer and etc. that I'm typing this on, that's really mostly books and yarn. Those are either easy to box up, or coming with me. So this is what it looks like now. My life is being reduced to three distinct piles--packing boxes for the garage, luggage for Korea, and trash bags to either donate or throw away. Also a disturbing level of chaos. If I get the inclination, I'll take a few shots of the yarn I'm bringing with me, with explanations of intended projects. Seoul has amazing public transportation, so I'll have lots of time for sitting and knitting. Now if I can just convince myself to start packing.

July? When did that happen?

Well, it took me about two weeks to get my camera back. And now I'm just....apathetic about taking pictures of things. Maybe tomorrow. I need to block the shrug I made (but probably didn't mention on here) before the wedding in a week. So this is just a quick apology and explanation on the off-chance someone's out there.

It's summer. It's summer when all I'm doing is waiting for fall. I have to struggle to get thesis work done because my schedule is so unstructured that I can't convince myself to get started working. And I'm broke, so I can't just go to ye olde local coffee shoppe to get work done there. I've been knitting, but much of that has been messing up, restarting, and re-restarting, so it's not very exciting. So here's the deal: I'll update very sporadically for the next month. I'm sure I'll post some about the wedding (especially pictures of THE Shawl in action), and what's going on with that. If nothing else, I will get pictures of DB in a tuxedo. But other than that, there's just not much going on. But when it's closer to the move, and of course after the move itself, then hopefully I'll have more to say.

Oh, just fyi, I did send off my lit. review and proposal. So until my advisor gets back to me about everything, I get to actually act like it's summer and I don't have schoolwork. For a few days.

Well hello again, Sunday!

I believe, though I could be wrong (although almost every comic strip I read over the weekend suggests otherwise), that today is Father's Day. At least in America. I must remember to call mi papa, and remind SB (sweet boyfriend) to call his as well. I'm rather scatterbrained today, if the plethora of parentheses is any indication, so we'll see if I actually manage to. For now, here's a mess of what's on my mind, as I attempt to make an interesting post and write out my list of goals for the week.

I still don't have my camera back, and wanted to put something recent up, so I was going to scan the picture I drew yesterday. But it's not quite done. So instead, you get the pictures I finished of a roleplaying character from a few years back. Or only one, as two are too big for one post, apparently. The drawing was finished 4-2-2009. This is Kit:



This is one of my favorite drawings. I just love the expression on her face. She was a very appearance-based character, from White Wolf's Mage: The Ascension (skip to end of paragraph if you don't care about this stuff). She was a tattoo artist living in Las Vegas, who used her tattoos, as well as...Kata? a style of Japanese dance...to focus the magic she did. So the Shinto gates were used for spirit-based magic, and the references to luck, such as cards and the koi, were entropy-based. On the back of her neck, she had a lotus flower tattoo for mind-based magic. Kit is short for Kitsune, the fox-spirit in Japanese lore; she is intended to have a fox-like face, and had a full-back tattoo of a two-tailed fox (her avatar). She also specifically had 9 braids (visible in the other picture that won't fit), to represent the most powerful of the Kitsune. This, this is nerdery at its finest.

Nothing really on the knitting front, as I'm still working through redoing the sleeves for Camden. I hate the crap out of the Dude sweater, so it's in a severe time out (halfway up the back--this is a very bad sign.) Anyways, I should wrap this up, so I'll leave you with my goals for the week:

• Spin a tuft (for reals this time)
• Finish and format thesis proposal
• Type up lit review stuff for everything that's already been read
• Find and print some articles while at parents' house
• Towards that extent, go to parents' house (my mom's birthday is this Saturday)
• Do laundry
• Renew library books before going home
• Go to the dentist
• Finish Camden sleeves
• Seam Camden shirt
• Start a shrug (to hopefully be finished in time for the wedding)
• Get past the evil colorwork chart on the Dude sweater
• Read through (or at least acknowledge) last 3 books for thesis
• Type up lit. review for those books
